Donald Henry, son of William and Rose (Schroeder) Badding, was born October 25, 1931 on a farm near Templeton. In 1932 the family moved to a farm near Arcadia where Don attended St. John’s School.

On September 12, 1953, Don was united in marriage with Carolyn Bachman at St. Joseph Church in Carroll. Seven children were born to this union. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1955. He was injured in a tank accident and was plagued by that injury throughout his life. The family lived on his parent’s farm for a short time before moving to another place near Arcadia. In 1972 they purchased the family farm.

Donald was a dedicated farmer all his life even though he had trouble walking, he never gave up. He also enjoyed a large vegetable garden as well as growing many flowers. He and Carolyn enjoyed traveling around the state and country. Don was known as a great cook and enjoyed making his famous Christmas caramels every year.   He loved to play cards and above all spending time with family. Don was a member of St. John’s Parish in Arcadia. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 694 of Arcadia.

Don died suddenly and unexpectedly at St. Anthony Hospital after becoming ill at home on Sunday morning, August 24, 2008 at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 30 days.
