Beverly Rix

August 6, 1941 — September 30, 2022

Private family funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Beverly Jane, daughter of Peter and Jane (Maas) Pickel, was born August 6, 1941, in Schleswig, Iowa. Bev grew up at Schleswig and attended country school at Otter Creek #9 and then graduated from Schleswig High School. She then attended beauty college in Omaha.

On August 23, 1960, Bev was united in marriage with Allen Rix in South Dakota. The couple made their home in Manning and three daughters were born to this union. Bev devoted most of her time as a stay-at-home mom when the girls were growing up. She also assisted Al as a bookkeeper at his Standard Oil Station, eventually Rix Amoco.

Bev was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was a Past Sunday School Superintendent. Throughout the years, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and volunteered with the swim team at the outdoor pool. Bev made a very good lemon meringue pie and loved reading books. Bev loved all of her grandkids, was a good friend, good listener and a fantastic mom.

In late 2021, Bev experienced a decline in health and was diagnosed with cancer. On Friday, September 30, 2022, she passed away at her home in Manning at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 24 days. Bev's family deeply appreciates the devoted and loving care that was given during her last two weeks, especially by her granddaughter-in-law Meagon Rosener.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; husband Allen; a grandson Shane Johnson; three brothers: Richard (Lois) Pickel, Wilbert Pickel and Bernhard (Betty) Pickel; and a sister Rubie (Rawlo) Kastner; and a brother-in-law Eugene Stamm.

She is survived by three daughters: Terri Rosener of Manning; Tammi (Mike) Powers of Manning; and Traci (Tom) Ewoldt of Tennant; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Evelyn Stamm of Omaha and Dorothy (Larry) Rix of Des Moines; and a sister-in-law Betty Pickel of Sac City.
