Arlo Clausen

October 27, 2020 — February 6, 2016

Arlo Edward, son of Lorens P. and Marfa (Ewoldt) Clausen, was born January 12, 1924 in Aspinwall, Iowa. He grew up in the Aspinwall area where he attended rural school south of Manning through the eighth grade. Arlo was baptized and later confirmed on April 2, 1939 by Pastor J. M. Ansorge at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Following his schooling, Arlo worked on his parents’ farm until the mid-1960s. During that time, they moved to Minnesota to farm, then later to Oregon where his brother had an implement dealership. He cared for his parents as their health had begun to fail. After their deaths Arlo and his brother Earl moved to California and planned to travel. However, Earl died in 1973. Arlo lived in Susanville, California for a short time before he returned to Iowa. He then worked for a plumber in Aspinwall from 1974 to 1986 when he retired. Arlo lived in Manilla from 1974 until the time of his death and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Arlo was a very private person. He had been in failing health for the past year and died at his home in Manilla on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the age of 92 years and 26 days.

Preceding him in death are his parents and two brothers Henry Clausen at age 13 and Earl Clausen at age 53.

Arlo is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
