Audrey P. Myer

October 29, 1914 — January 22, 2015

Audrey Pauline, daughter of Roy H and Florence (Ellison) Tripp, was born October 29, 1914 near Logan, Iowa. She grew up on the farm and attended school in Logan. On January 29, 1931, Audrey was united in marriage with LeRoy Myer at the Methodist Church in Logan. They made their home on a farm near Logan and were the parents of four children. After 36 years on the farm they moved into town. Audrey worked at J. C. Penny in Missouri Valley part-time for seven years and then at the Missouri Valley Hospital as a nurse assistant for 13 ½ years. Her husband died on April 27, 1982 and she continued to live in their home in Logan until moving to Manning in 1995. Audrey was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and also belonged to the United Methodist Women, church circles and fellowship groups. In her spare time, Audrey enjoyed her flowers, gardens and cooking. In her earlier years she did a lot of sewing, crocheting, made quilt tops and painted. Audrey loved anything to do with the outdoors and nature. She liked helping others and, above all, loved her family. When she no longer felt comfortable in her home in Manning she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in October of 2009. Audrey celebrated her 100th birthday there in 2014. On Thursday, January 22, 2015, Audrey died at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center at the age of 100 years, 2 months and 24 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; son-in-law Alan Christensen; brothers Addison Tripp, Gene Tripp and Harold Tripp; and sister Marge and her husband Lee Parrott. Survivors include her four children: Gaylord Myer of Mesa, AZ; Sally Christensen of Underwood; Carroll Myer and wife Janice of Harrison, AR; and Dr. Philip Myer and wife Janet of Manning; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; brother Glen Tripp and wife Mary of Arvada, CO; sisters-in-law Marge Tripp and Carolyn Tripp, both of Council Bluffs; other relatives and many friends.
