Betty Ann, only daughter of Bernard and Mabel (Frank) Lengemann, was born September 13, 1939 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up east of Manning on the family farm. She attended country school and graduated from Manning High School with the class of 1957. After graduation, Betty worked as a nursing assistant in both the Manning & Denison Hospitals. In fact, she met Louie when he was a patient in the Denison hospital.
On February 17, 1963 Betty was united in marriage with Louie Andresen, Jr. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. They lived and farmed near Ute for five years and then near Ricketts for three years. When Betty's parents retired in 1970, they moved to the Lengemann farm east of Manning. They were the parents of three girls. The family belonged to the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, where Betty was a member of Evening Circle and helped with the VBS program for several years. She enjoyed the Chat R Sew club with the neighborhood ladies too.
Betty was a lifelong Homemaker & farm wife, often helping Louie outside, as well as cooking, baking, bread making and caring for her family. She was an avid gardener, canning & freezing many of her vegetables to last year-round. Betty was also an advanced seamstress-sewing many of her own and her girls clothes. She loved to tend to her flowers, crochet, & do a variety of crafts. No task was too daunting- she even tackled making the four tier 50th anniversary cake for her parents and bridesmaids dresses/flowers for her daughter. She was a natural teacher-sharing her talents with her daughters and others as she was very active as 4-H Leader of the Manning Cadets for over 10 years.
Betty struggled with a number of health issues over the years, but always made her best effort to overcome them and adjust to the obstacles life brought with it. In 2008, Betty found herself unable to manage at home and became a resident of the Manilla Manor. After a short hospitalization, she passed away peacefully at the Manilla Manor, surrounded by her daughters on Friday afternoon, May 20th, 2016, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 7 days.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Louie in 2013.
She is survived by her three daughters: Lynna (Jay) Miller of Manilla, Lesia (Shawn) Smith of West Des Moines and Luann (Craig) Langel of Manning; five grandchildren: Noah & Kara Smith and Mabel, Benjamin, and Ella Langel; other relatives and friends.
