Betty Jane Ingerslev

February 25, 1924 — June 17, 2019

Betty Jane, daughter of Knud and Olga (Petersen) Hansen, was born February 25, 1924, east of Kimballton, Iowa. She grew up in Elk Horn and graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1941.  Betty was united in marriage with Norman Russell Ingerslev on June 24, 1942, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kimballton.  Three children were born to this union.   The couple farmed the Ingerslev home place all their married life.  In addition to being a dedicated farm wife and mother, Betty worked at Gambles and Kimballton Furniture.  She and her sister owned and operated a consignment store in Kimballton during the 1980’s.

Betty was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the local Red Hat Ladies’ club.  She thoroughly enjoyed going for coffee and visiting with her friends and family.  After Norman’s sudden death in 1982, Betty moved to Kimballton, then to Elk Horn.  Due to declining health she moved to the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn in 2012.  She died there on Monday night, June 17, 2019, at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 23 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman Ingerslev; granddaughter Karie Larsen; sister Reta Reich and brother Leon Hansen.
