Charles Brent, son of Chester and Elizabeth (Aagaard) Larsen, was born June 10, 1945, at Audubon County, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at Elk Horn Lutheran Church and as a child was active in the 4-H and FFA. Charles attended rural Sharon #5 school and then graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1963. He attended Dana College in Blair, NE, where he met his future wife. On August 20, 1966, Charles was united in marriage with Julie Hansen at Des Moines, IA. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1967. While in Blair, Charles worked for Flynn Field Farm. The couple moved to Kimballton and onto the farm where they have lived and farmed ever since. Charles retired from active farming in 2000, though he remained interested and rented out the land. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton. Charles was an avid fisherman, trapper and hunter. He also collected antique International Harvester tractors and 1970's Ford trucks. In 2003 Charles had a lung transplant. Following an accident his health declined and he was hospitalized for about a month prior to his death at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE, on Monday, April 9, 2012. He was 66 years, 9 months and 30 days. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law J.W. Hansen. He is survived by his wife Julie Larsen of Kimballton; sisters Barbara Martin (Ron) of Morrison, CO, and Cynthia Adams (Gary) of Littleton, CO; mother-in-law Marjorie Hansen of Des Moines; brother-in-law Tom Hansen (Barb) of Brighton, MI; sister-in-law Jan Speed (Jim) of Natchitoches, LA; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
