Charles Corsaut

Charles Corsaut, age 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa, and formerly of Coon Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Private family services are being planned. The Ohde Funeral Home in Coon Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Charles Fuller, son of Lorne F. and Marjorie (McCrea) Corsaut, was born February 5, 1933, in Sac City, Iowa. He grew up in Sac City, attending country school and then graduating from Sac City High School. From February of 1953 to February of 1956, Charles served as a member of the 82nd Airborne in United States Army.
On July 10, 1953, Charles was united in marriage with Doris Darlene Allen. The couple first farmed north of Sac City before moving to a farm near Coon Rapids. Charles eventually took a position with Garst and Thomas, but still found enjoyment playing on his acreage. During retirement, Charles moved to Arkansas for a number of years, and then Arizona for a short time before returning to Iowa and living in Bayard and Maxwell.
Charles enjoyed farming and being in the outdoors. He took to gardening, fishing, woodcarving, doing jigsaw puzzles, reading and watching old westerns, experimental cooking. He was a very self-sufficient jack-of-all-trades.
On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, Charles passed away at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, at the age of 85.
Charles is survived by five children: Roxanne Vanover and husband Darrell of St. Joseph, Illinois; Karen Cardiel of Robinson, Texas; Jayne Coleman and husband Cliff of West Point, Utah; Mickey Drake and husband Bob of Wall Lake, Iowa; and Tim Corsaut of Nevada, Iowa; 14 grandchildren: Mary, Laura, Katherine, Tony, Vanessa, Eric, Andria, Jennifer, Nicole, Sara, Kevin, Michala, Danielle and Lacie; 27 great-grandchildren; and a brother Larry Corsaut of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris in 1984; a daughter-in-law Raynette Corsaut; and two sisters Donna Madsen and Rose at childbirth.
