Corrine Gute

September 3, 1922 — March 29, 2013

Corrine Mary, daughter of Patrick and Mayme (Sheets) Gleason, was born at Sioux Falls, SD, on September 3, 1922. The family moved to Carroll, Iowa, where Corrine attended St. Joseph's school and graduated early from St. Angela's Academy. Following her schooling she worked at Wittrock Motors as a secretary and for a local attorney. On December 26, 1940, Corrine was united in marriage with Alfred Gute at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Carroll. Two children were born to this union. Corrine was a meticulous homemaker in addition to working at the law offices of both Martin TanCreti Sr. and Jr. Alfred and Corrine enjoyed a long and loving marriage until his unexpected death in 1981. Corrine was always a strong-willed and independent woman. When she began to need extra care, she moved to the Swan House in 2009. Corrine always enjoyed sharing the rosary with the other residents, as well as playing (or winning!) cards and bingo. Corrine was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. She enjoyed her bridge club through the years and regular visits over coffee with her neighbors. Corrine also liked to read and sew. Over time Corrine's health had deteriorated and she died at the Swan House in Carroll, Iowa, on Friday, March 29, 2013. She was 90 years, 6 months and 26 days of age. Corrine is preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred Gute; sister Cris Aitkin (James); and brother Patrick M. Gleason (Patty). She is survived by her children Gayleen Kuehn of Carroll and Patrick Gute (Cathy) of Sharpsburg, GA; grandchildren: Jason Gute; Stephanie Bauman (Jake); Dawn Thomas (George); Cork Kuehn (Michelle); great-grandchildren: Avery Marie Bauman; Patrick Kuehn; Isabella Kuehn; and Erica Jean Kuehn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
