Craig Hansen

March 3, 1954 — July 1, 2016

Craig Douglas, son of Robert and Ruth (Kanning) Hansen was born March 3, 1954 at Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa.  He graduated from Audubon High School in 1972.

After high school Craig worked for Wayne Hansen and Audubon Oil as a mechanic.  He continued his love for fixing vehicles at Crouse Cartage and then Custom Truck Leasing.  Craig was a self-taught mechanic that had all the tools he needed and more.

Besides working on engines, Craig enjoyed reading, gadgets of all sorts and flying remote control airplanes.  He was an extraordinary story teller.  Craig was able to tell stories and have you believing his every word before he would finally come clean and tell you he was joking.  He will forever be remembered by his family for his one-liners and upbeat personality.

Craig was diagnosed with liver cancer in June of 2016.  He spent a couple of weeks at the family farm before he moved to the Manning Plaza.  Craig died there on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 28 days.

He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth M. Hansen on January 20, 2016 and his grandparents.

Craig is survived by his father Robert D. Hansen of Manning; siblings Barbara Anderson (Steve) of Cedar Rapids, Colleen Minis (Stuart) of Shrewsbury, NJ, David Hansen (Paula) of Omaha, Jean Hansen Houseman of Silvis, IL and Gary Hansen (Jeanette) of Florence, KY; nieces and nephews Tim Anderson, Heather Anderson, Nathaniel Minis, Thomas Hansen, Jonathan Hansen, Matthew Houseman, Tamma (Ronald) Nelson and Calvin Hansen and other relatives and friends.
