Craig "Spitter" Moeller

September 7, 1953 — May 19, 2022

Craig Lee "Spitter" Moeller, son of John J. and Neola E. (Dustin) Moeller, was born September 7, 1953, at the Audubon County Hospital, Audubon, Iowa. He joined an older brother, John Dee Moeller. Spitter was raised on a farm in Audubon County and moved with his parents to Manning in 1992. Craig attended Manning Community Schools and graduated in 1972. Craig had a work history that winds from M & I Dehy to Heartland Market, several factories, a few bars and three telemarketing companies. His favorite job was, of course, when he was the owner of Spitter's Bar.

Sports were an important part of his life. He was an avid Cyclones, Steelers and Reds fan and was more than willing to defend them verbally. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, especially in leagues and with his friends. He was involved in slow-pitch softball for many years. Craig had twice been honored by the Carroll County 16 inch Slow Pitch Hall of Fame in 1998 as a Promoter of the Game and in 2014 as Manager.

Craig used his poetry to entertain his family and friends and enjoyed reading his poems at many events in the Manning area. He proudly published six poem books.

He was baptized and confirmed at the Gray Methodist Church and later joined the United Methodist Church in Manning.

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, Craig passed away unexpectedly at his home in Manning, Iowa. He was 68 years, 8 months and 12 days of age.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by a brother John D. Moeller and wife Becky of Badger; a niece Lisa (Ryan) Hartley and their daughters: Morgan (Bryce) Sunderman and their daughter Harper; and Maddie & Mayson Hartley; a nephew Jeff Moeller and his sons Landon and Knox; and by other relatives and many friends.
