David Robert, son of Robert Edwin and Virginia Mae (Mesenbrink) Boeck, was born July 4, 1944 in Denison, Iowa. He attended rural school and then graduated from Denison High School in 1962. After graduation he farmed for a few years and worked construction. On September 24, 1967 David was united in marriage with Charlotte Ann Saunders at the Methodist Church in Manilla. Three daughters were born to this union. David owned his own gravel and lime trucks and continued to work construction for various companies. For a number of years he worked as a mechanic, and for Rasmussen Lumber Company in Manilla and farmed. He then worked for General Electric in Carroll. David attended college in his 40's and studied electronics. He opened his own business, Midway Electronics, where he sold and serviced office equipment. He was very talented and could figure out almost anything that had moving parts. His most recent job was with 3 of a Kind Trucking Company out of Schleswig. In his spare time David enjoyed car racing, playing golf and working on projects at home. His hobbies and interests also included the Civil War, Iowa Hawkeyes sports and following politics closely. David was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011, however he continued trucking. He was blessed with three more years to spend time with his family and friends and golf with his buddies. David spent a short time at St. Anthony Hospital before transferring to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines where he died peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 30 days.
