Donna Holdsworth

November 2, 1932 — August 7, 2019

Donna, daughter of George and Arlene (Wasteal) Frailing, was born November 2, 1932, in Shawano, Wisconsin. She grew up in Clintonville, Wisconsin, where she graduated from high school in 1950. Donna then attended Concordia Teachers College near River Forest, Illinois, and received her teaching degree. She later completed her degree at Midwestern College in Denison and did graduate work at Morningside.  Donna’s first teaching positions were in Charter Oak and Irwin before doing her student teaching in the sixth grade at Manilla.

On July 16, 1955 Donna was united in marriage with Raymond Holdsworth in Clintonville, Wisconsin. Four children were born to this union. They farmed south east of Manilla until they retired in the early 1990s. Starting in 1967, Donna returned to teaching, first at the Defiance Catholic School and then as a Special Education teacher in Manilla, before retiring in 1995. Donna and Ray then moved into town in 1998.  Ray died in 2008 and Donna continued to live in their home.

Donna was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a voracious reader and read several books every week. Throughout the years, she enjoyed golf, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and attending her grandkids’ activities.

Donna died suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Manilla on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.  She was 86 years, 9 months and 5 days of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond Holdsworth; son Andrew Holdsworth; brothers-in-law Harold (Yvonne) Holdsworth and Robert (Lois) Holdsworth; and sisters-in-law Darlene Johnson and Dorothy (Bill) Ballantine.
