Dr. Rylie-Shea

Feb 27, 1999 — Aug 2, 2026

Dr. Rylie-Shea Frankee Muhlbauer, daughter of Stephen and Nancy (Fogleman) Muhlbauer, was born on February 27, 1999, at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa.

Rylie attended IKM-Manning High School, graduating with the Class of 2017. She continued her education at Morningside College in Sioux City, where she attended for three years on both academic and volleyball scholarships, competing as a member of the Mustang volleyball team. She then enrolled at Cleveland University in Overland Park, Kansas, earning her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in December of 2023.

Following graduation, Dr. Rylie completed her practicum with Adjusted for Life Chiropractic in Kearney, Missouri, where she continued practicing until December of 2025. In January of 2026, she returned to her hometown of Manning to live with her brother, Caden, and pursue her dream of serving the community she loved.

She launched Higher Up Chiropractic, a mobile chiropractic practice that allowed her to travel directly to her patients' homes. She was eagerly preparing to open her permanent office on Main Street in Manning in August of 2026, a dream she had worked tirelessly to achieve.

Dr. Ry’s golden retriever, Koe, was her constant companion and meant the world to her. Whether going for daily runs, traveling, or simply spending time together, Koe was always faithfully by her side.

A devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Dr. Ry lived out her faith each day. She spent time in personal Bible study, diligently took sermon notes, and found strength and purpose through her relationship with God. Along with her deep faith came an infectious sense of humor. She loved creating memories and stories that continue to bring laughter to those who knew her.

Dr. Ry was opinionated, strong-willed, ambitious, and one of the hardest-working people you could meet. She loved to cook and had a true gift in the kitchen. Her warm, outgoing personality drew people to her, and she had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and seen. She genuinely loved caring for her patients and was passionate about helping others live healthier lives.

Volleyball remained an important part of her life long after her playing days ended. She was looking forward to helping coach middle school volleyball at IKM-Manning and had previously assisted with AAU volleyball camps while living in Sioux City. She also enjoyed bartending at the Thirsty Carp in Lake View, where she formed lasting friendships and often returned to visit those she had met there.

Dr. Ry passed on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Lake View, Iowa, at the age of 27 years, five months, and six days. She was preceded in death by her sister, Justeen Schwieso; paternal grandparents, Frank and Margaret Muhlbauer; maternal grandparents, Ken and Mae Fogleman; aunts, Debra Fogleman and Connie Faber; uncles, Dave, Allen and Paul Muhlbauer.

She is survived by her parents, Nancy and Steve Muhlbauer of Manning; her siblings, Shannon Walters of Manning, Mitchell (Jess) Walters of Aspinwall, Caden "Twosky" Muhlbauer of Manning, and Nick Muhlbauer of Elkhorn, Nebraska; nieces and nephews: Emma, Dacota, Buck, Cassidy, Peter, Simon, Cassidy, MacKenzie, Allison, and Ethan; aunts and uncles: Carmen and Rob Yancey, Steve and Julie Fogleman, Lyle and Linda Muhlbauer, and Marilyn Muhlbauer; along with many other relatives, dear friends, patients, and all whose lives she touched.
