Edythe L Schwieso

January 30, 1930 — November 13, 2012

Edythe Lucille, daughter of Chancey and Martha (Kittler) Sleister, was born January 30, 1930 in Manilla, Iowa. She lived with her family in Manilla and graduated from Manilla High School in 1947. On February 15, 1948 Edythe was united in marriage with Edward Frederick Schwieso at Manilla, Iowa. Six children were born to this union. Edythe was a stay at home mom while raising their children, but also helped Ed with the farming operation in the Irwin, Defiance, and Manilla areas. Edythe was the head cook for the Irwin schools for 25 years and also worked at several cafes in the area. (An obvious testimony to her love of cooking.) In 1978, after Ed's semi-retirement, they moved into Irwin. Ed died June 29, 1999. Edythe was a member of the United Methodist Church in Irwin. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and baking. She looked forward to camping at the Iowa State Fair as a family vacation. Above all, Edythe enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren. When Edythe could no longer live on her own, she moved to the Manilla Manor in 2005. She died there on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 14 days. Besides her husband and parents, Edythe is preceded in death by her sister Violet (Chris) Rasmussen and brother Raymond (Ola) Sleister. Edythe is survived by her children: Keith (Pat) Schwieso of Defiance; Richard (Lana) Schwieso of Irwin; Diana (Doug) Redinbaugh of Atlantic; Susan (Gary) Greer of Harlan; Kevin Schwieso of Harlan; Anna (Dave) Schwarte of Irwin; 13 grandchildren: Keri (Clint) Sonderman, Chris (Ann) Schwieso, Heather (Joey) Muenchrath, Elisha (Josh) Leinen, Marsha (Tim) Wright, Mark (Jessica) Andersen, Melinda Greer, Kelly Greer, Jesse Schwieso, Jason Schwieso, Cody Schwieso; Kole Schwarte, Bree Schwarte; 2 step grandchildren Matt (Michelle) Redinbaugh and Jill (Chuck) Rudy; 14 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
