Ellen Timm

March 26, 1946 — October 5, 2013

Ellen Marie (Esbeck) Timm was born March 26, 1946 to her proud parents Elmer and Sylvia (Schmidt) Esbeck in Carroll, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton. She grew up in the Kimballton and Elk Horn area, attending local schools and graduated from Elk Horn-Kimballton High School in 1964. Her work experience includes the Glenwood State Children's School in Glenwood, a Pastry Chef at the Danish Bakery in Elk Horn as well as Librarian for 15 plus years at the Mingo Public Library in Mingo. Ellen was united in marriage with Darold Timm on February 27, 1988 in Casey. Her hobbies included being a devoted Chicago Cubs baseball fan, tending her beautiful flower gardens, member of The Bloomers Garden Club of Mingo, The Book Club of Mingo, baking and cooking, spending time with family and friends sharing her love for them. Ellen was very proud of her Danish Heritage and continued on with the family tradition handed down to her with baking of delicious and delightful Danish Pastries, along with authentic Danish meal dishes as she was also a wonderful cook. She would make dozens of Danish pastries for family and friends and was in demand for her specialties at Christmas and mailed many to out-of-state locations. She loved her family, friends and was especially proud of her sons and grandchildren. Ellen passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at her home in Mingo after bravely fighting cancer off and on for a number of years. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, step father Svend Andersen, step sisters Jeanne Andersen and Jerolyn Kite, father in law Glen Timm, and brother in law Gerald Timm. Ellen is survived by her husband Darold Timm of Mingo; son David (Veronica) Andersen of Ankeny; son Michael Timm of Iowa City; brother James (Judith) Esbeck of Tucson, AZ; step sister Ileen (Ed) Furne of Atlantic; step brother Ivan (Lavon) Andersen of Elk Horn; mother in law Esther Timm of Tama; grandchildren Angelique, Owen and Isabella Andersen; step sons Bradley, Jeffrey and Jared Timm; step daughter Jennifer Flatte; sisters in law Sandra Chandonia and Kathy Timm, all of Iowa; nieces, nephews, many step-grandchildren and many step nieces and nephews. Ellen will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly. The family thanks the Skiff Hospice of Newton for the excellent care of Ellen. A Memorial Service will be held in Mingo at the Community Center on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 5:00 PM with a Celebration of her Life with family and friends.
