Gladys Louise Clara, daughter of Walter William and Anna Marie (Hitzke) Radovich, was born February 10, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Chicago and when she was 16 years old, her family moved to Crystal Lake, where she graduated from high school.  Gladys then did office work at Commonwealth Edison in Chicago.   On August 24, 1946, Gladys was united in marriage with Frederick John Milkert at Crystal Lake. Seven children were born to this union. Gladys and Fred lived in Crystal Lake where Fred worked for Matthews Grain Drying Company until 1964, when he was transferred to Audubon, Iowa. In 1971 they moved to Manning where he operated the Virginia Caf until he became ill and had to sell the caf in 1978. After Fred died in 1980, Gladys was able to remain in their home.

Gladys was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Zion Lutheran Church in Manning where she participated in the Ladies Guild and choir.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren above all else.

Though her health and eyesight were failing in the last few years, Gladys continued to live at home.  She died there suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, February 5, 2007, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 26 days.

Besides her parents and husband, Gladys is preceded in death by son Martin; great-granddaughter Grace Rosonke; brothers Kenneth and wife Betty and Richard Radovich; and sister LaVerne Lodtz.

Gladys is survived by six children: Nancy and husband Ray Dreher of Hamlin; Susan Cookie? Laver of Mesa, AZ; Mark Milkert of Viola, WI; Cathy and husband Mark Gregersen of Audubon; Shirley Woollums of Chariton; and Matthew Milkert and wife Barb of Chippewa Falls, WI; ten grandchildren: Monte Dreher and wife Julie; Cory Laver; Stephanie and husband Dan Rosonke; Cole Laver and wife April; Heather and Heidi Milkert; Tyler and Jamie Woollums; and Hannah and Aaron Milkert; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers: Wallace Radovich; Marvin Radovich and wife Gwen; and Allen Radovich and wife Karen, all of Crystal Lake, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
