Henry John Jones Iii

Henry John Jones was born on November 27, 1931 to Henry John and Iola Kathleen (Mac Eachern) Jones in Wilmington, Delaware. The family moved to San Francisco, California in 1943. He graduated from high school in California. Following high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and fought in the Korean War and received the Purple Heart Award. John was honorably discharged in August of 1954. John married Doris Hansen on June 27, 1956 at a Lutheran church in Inglewood, California.

John worked as an A/E mechanic for Continental Airlines and American Airlines. Following his work with the airlines, he went through police academy training at Northwestern University and then worked for the village of the Streamwood Police Department from 1965 until he retired in 1986 as a Sergeant. Following his retirement, he worked for Harris Bank as a security guard in Barrington, Illinois. John and Doris moved to Elk Horn, Iowa in 1997.

John was a member of the Elk Horn Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Elk Horn American Legion and the Optimist Club. He enjoyed building model sailing ships and fishing. He cherished spending time with family and friends.

John passed away at home on December 16, 2021 at the age of 90 years and 19 days.

John was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Zachary Hansen in 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris Jones of Elk Horn; children, Jeff Jones of Easly, South Carolina, Kathy Rubio of Ladson, South Carolina, Mark (Elizabeth) Jones of Genoa, Illinois, Suzanne Clemens of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Cynthia (Andrew) Allamian of St. Charles, Illinois; 10 grandchildren: Ronda (Chuck) Blair, Roberta Reetz, Jessica Jones, Joshua (Krystal) Ericksen, Derek Jones, Adrian Rubio, Sherri Jones, Garrett, Gavin, Emma and Aidan Allamian; 12 great-grandchildren: Ryker, LJ, Kaylee, Courtney, Caleb, Chloe, Iris, Violet, Gage, Gavin, Demi, Olivia, and Jackson; brother, Peter (Barbara) Jones of Reno, Nevada; and "adopted" daughter, Arlene Davis of Glendale Heights, Illinois.
