September 12, 1938 — October 20, 2022

Imelda Viola Schwery Laube, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went to heaven on October 20, 2022 in Houston, Texas.

Imelda was born in Panama, Iowa on September 12, 1938, to Alfred and Romana (Goeser) Schwery. She grew up on a farm in Defiance, Iowa with her 5 siblings. She met John Laube in Harlan, Iowa and married in Manilla, Iowa on June 17, 1961. Shortly thereafter, Imelda and her husband John moved to California and started a family. Imelda resided in the Houston, Texas area since 1983 until her passing from congestive heart failure.

Imelda touched many lives in her ministries of Marriage Encounter, singing in the choir, lectoring in church and being a diligent prayer intercessor. Fueled by her faithfulness, loving-kindness, and joyfulness, she built relationships in which she was greatly valued. Imelda dedicated her life to family, friends, and faith, resulting in a wonderful group of friends and a distinguished legacy in her children, grandchildren and others whose lives she touched.

Imelda loved to travel, especially with family and friends where she enjoyed many adventures, created lasting memories, and expanded her legacy. She enjoyed reading about near-death Heaven experiences. She was passionate in her faith and relationship with Jesus, and she paved her way to spending eternity in Heaven.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Laube, her son John Laube, Jr. and his wife Karen (Heeley) Laube, daughter Kristin (Laube) Manning and her husband Carl Manning and their children, Olivia Manning and Maxwell Manning. She is also survived by her siblings Melania Peterson, Connie Becker and Mel Schwery.
