Janet Mary Cretsinger

Janet Mary, daughter of Howard and La Von (Johnston) Smouse, was born April 15, 1944, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Coon Rapids where she attended school.

In 1960, Janet was united in marriage with Norman K. Cretsinger in Coon Rapids. A daughter Deb was born to this union. The family made their home in Coon Rapids. Both Janet and Norman worked their entire careers at Garst and Thomas Seed Corn Company, to whom they were very dedicated.

Janet was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. She enjoyed scrapbooking, playing cards with friends, and reading novels. Janet and Norm enjoyed traveling and taking their family on cruises and to Disneyworld. Norman passed away in 2020.

On Thursday, February 16, 2023, Janet passed away at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 1 day of age.

Janet is survived by her daughter Deb (Brad) Becker of Emmetsburg; two grandchildren Jennifer (George) Landsberger of Goose Creek, South Carolina; and Josh (Heidi) Becker of Firestone, Colorado; two great-grandchildren; Molly Becker and George A. Landsberger; a brother-in-law Lyle Paulsen of Coon Rapids; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman; parents; brother Steve Smouse; sister Juanita Paulsen; and great-grandson Drew Becker.

Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Coon Rapids, Iowa.
