Jeanette Romey

Jeanette Marie Romey, was born in Parker, South Dakota on December 6, 1921. Her family lived in Parker for a short time before moving to Templeton, Iowa. Jeanette attended Sacred Heart School and graduated high school in 1939.

After completing high school, she made her home in North Platte, Nebraska, where she held the position of chief cashier for Municipal Light and Power.  After 35 years, she decided to retire and move to Carroll, Iowa.  She became a member of Holy Spirit Church and was an active member of RSVP.  Jeanette became a study coach for the grade school across the street from her home. She also spent many hours as a volunteer at St. Anthony Regional Hospital.

   Her hobbies included gardening and tending to her flowers.  She excelled in embroidering, crocheting, knitting afghans and children’s clothing.  She made many trips west to visit relatives.

   Jeanette passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carroll, Iowa, where she was a resident for the last 8 years. She reached the age of 96 years.

  Jeanette was preceded in death by her mother Kathryn Romey; Aunt Gertrude Romey; a sister Marjorie Davis and husband Earl “Blackie”; two nieces Suzanne Dozler and Janice Wilkins; and a great-great nephew Jackson Kemper.

   She is survived by a niece Monica Christensen and husband Paul of Manning; one great-niece; eight great-nephews and other relatives and friends.
