Jeffrey Shiner

Jeffrey Franklin Shiner was born on June 19, 1958, the son of Theodore and Nina (Newman) Shiner in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Tech High School in Des Moines and later served in the United States Army. In 2020, Jeff relocated to Manning from Des Moines.

Jeff cherished time with his family and especially enjoyed his many nieces and nephews, as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews. He had a love for chocolate, coffee, and pie. In his free time, Jeff enjoyed being outdoors, particularly fishing. He also liked watching movies, especially horror, space, and crime films. One of his favorite simple joys was sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee, watching the kiddos play in the park.

Jeff passed away at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the age of 67 years, eight months and 18 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Greg, Sara, Becky and Vickie; and niece, Tiffany.

He is survived by his family of Manning: sister, Carol Shiner; nephew, Ryan (Julie) Shiner; great-nephews: Silas Shiner and Merrick Shiner; other family in the Des Moines area: Duane (Rhonda) Shiner, Timmy (Rod) Shiner, Darryl (Kim) Shiner, Mike Shiner, Richard (Sandy) Shiner, Tommy Shiner, Harold (Jennifer) Sherman; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; even some great-greats; and other family and friends.

Jeff will be cremated and his family will hold a Celebration of Life on their own at a later date.
