Jim Fuller

James Garth Fuller, Jr. son of Garth and Hilda (Carstens) Fuller, was born February, 28, 1948 in Manilla, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm near Manilla and attended schools in Manilla. Jim graduated with the Class of 1966. Following High School, Jim attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he studied business and psychology. After his graduation in 1970 Jim returned home to care for his mother after his father's death and help run Denison Mustard Company. He also operated Ye Old Variety Store in Manilla and took more courses to become a licensed substance abuse counselor. On April 18, 1986 Jim was united in marriage with Georgann Slater. Jim gladly helped raise her three daughters and truly became their Dad. The family lived on the family farm near Manilla. Jim started working in the substance abuse counseling field at the Manning General Hospital in about 1984. He retired from that position in February of 2015 when his health no longer permitted him to work following two heart attacks. Jim enjoyed living on the farm, caring for the yard and always finding something to paint. In his spare time he read history and biography. He was an avid fan of the University of Nebraska Huskers and the Green Bay Packers. Jim fell ill and entered the Manning Regional Healthcare Center, in Manning on Monday morning April 20, 2015. He died later that day at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 23 days. Preceding him in death are his parents. Jim is survived by his wife Georgann Fuller of Manilla; three daughters Jennifer and husband Gabe Nunez of Cedar Falls; Jessica Slater and fiancée Dan Hayes, Jr. of Dow City and Susie Slater and fiancée Ryan Simonson of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren; sister Corene and husband Fred Whitmer of Valhermoso Springs, AL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
