Juanita Bellinghausen

June 18, 1920 — September 11, 2014

Juanita Elizabeth, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Smith) Bellinghausen, was born June 18, 1920 at home on the farm near Roselle, Iowa. She attended Holy Angels School in Roselle, graduating from the eighth grade. As a young woman, Juanita began her life's work as a housekeeper for priests in the Dubuque Diocese, first for Msgr. O'Connell and then Fr. Sheppard. She began housekeeping in 1941 and retired in 1993. Two years later she moved to Carroll. Juanita was a member of Daughters of Isabella in Davenport for over 50 years. After moving back to Carroll and joining Holy Spirit Parish, she was a faithful member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. In her spare time, she loved playing cards, crocheting and knitting baby afghans and shawls. She also enjoyed watching ball games, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bulls. Above all Juanita enjoyed spending time with nieces and nephews and other family members. Five years ago, when her health no longer permitted her to live alone, Juanita became a resident of St Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. She died there on Thursday morning, September 11, 2014 at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 24 days. Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers Louis Bellinghausen, Ralph Bellinghausen and Francis Bellinghausen; and sisters Mary Ann Bock and Sr. Mardelle Bellinghausen, FSPA. Juanita is survived by her brother in law Ralph Bock of Glidden; sister in law Regina Bellinghausen of Las Vegas, NV; nieces and nephews and their families; other relatives and friends.
