Karla Jo Andersen, daughter of Charles Keith Andersen and Marilyn (Andersen) Bennett, was born February 10, 1959, in Harlan, Iowa. She grew up in Elk Horn and graduated from Elk Horn-Kimballton High School.
Karla continued to make her home in Iowa and moved to Texas for a while. About ten years ago, she returned and settled in Audubon, Iowa. While Karla needed help for herself, she enjoyed helping others even more, working as a counselor and as an aide at Salem Lutheran Home. She was very artistic and loved to draw and paint. Being in the country and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs were favorite pastimes of Karla. She loved all of her family.
On Sunday, November 5, 2023, Karla passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 26 days.
Karla was preceded in death by her father, Charles Andersen.
Karla is survived by her mother Marilyn Bennett of Atlantic; son Jeff (Charlene) Hoegh of Texas; two grandchildren: Dalton (Sydney) Knox and Kaitlyn (Jonathan) Plunkett; four great-grandchildren: Addilyn, Madalynn and Boone Knox and Kellen Plunkett; sister Angie (Paul) Garrett of Texas; brother Matt (Sandy) Andersen of Arkansas; nieces and nephews: Zack Garrett and Katie (John) Lopez and their children: Ethan, Makayla and Jaxsen; and many friends.
The Funeral Service for Karla Jo Andersen was held on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 12 Noon at Elk Horn Lutheran Church, Elk Horn, Iowa with Rev. Keith Menter Officiating.
Congregational Hymns were “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross” Carolyn Kerkhoff, Organist.
Casket Bearers were Karla’s Family and Friends.
Burial at the Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery, Elk Horn, Iowa.
