Kay Galloway

Kay's family suggests that memorial donations in Kay’s memory be made to the St. Anthony Hospice.


   Kay Wannell, daughter of Wilburn William and Vera (Long) Russ, was born October 7, 1944, at San Diego, CA.  The family moved back to Coon Rapids, IA during Kay’s childhood. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School and attended a year of college.

   On December 31, 1967 Kay was united in marriage with James (Jim) Maurice Galloway. They made their home and raised their two sons in Coon Rapids. Kay was an active community volunteer and served on the school board.  She enjoyed baking and vegetable gardening, traveling with her family and caring for her dogs.  Kay was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids.

   Kay battled a neurological disease, and she moved to the Thomas Rest Haven nursing home in Coon Rapids in the fall of 2014.  Jim died in December of that same year. She died at Thomas Rest Haven on August 2, 2016 at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 26 days. Preceding her in death are her parents and husband Jim Galloway.

   Kay is survived by her sons Michael Galloway (Jennifer) and their two daughters Avery and Abigail of Urbandale and Jon Galloway (Cassandra) and their three daughters Presley, Charlotte and Hadley of West Des Moines; many cousins and friends.
