Keith Daniel, son of Eugene and Evelyn (Brauckman) Stueve, was born September 22, 1947 in Carroll County, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm south of Templeton, attended school in Templeton and then graduated from Kuemper High School in Carroll 1965.
Keith entered the United States Army on January 4, 1967 at Omaha, NE. After Basic Training, he attended Radio Operator School at Ft. Huachuca, AZ and Ft. Gordon, GA. Keith spent one year and four months in Germany as a member of HHC, 18th Avn. Battalion and was released to Inactive Reserve with the rank of Sergeant on December 12, 1968 at Ft. Dix, NJ. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal, receiving his final discharge on January 3, 1973.
In 1970, Keith was united in marriage with Doreen Hackfort. They were the parents of two children and lived in Templeton until 1985 when they moved to the family farm south of Templeton. Keith was a lifelong farmer and even after retirement kept busy with his many hobbies. He was partial to Farmall tractors as he pursued his tractor pulling activities. He also was a passionate outdoorsman, thoroughly enjoying fishing and hunting.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton and the Dedham American Legion Post 20.
Keith suffered some health problems over the last few years but nothing kept him down for long. He died unexpectedly at his home south of Templeton on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 24 days.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sister Denise Pease and brother in law Patrick Mitchell.
Keith is survived by his children Christie Heuton and her husband Jeffrey of Carroll and Mark Stueve of Templeton; three grandsons Sterling Schaefer, Stone Schaefer and Mason Heuton; siblings Kenny Stueve and wife Karen of Idaho Falls, ID, Wanda Mitchell of Des Moines and Renee Eifler and husband Terry of Ankeny; mother of his children Doreen Hackfort of Carroll; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
