Kenneth John Irlmeier was born on November 12, 1981, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, the son of Ronald H. and Donna J. (Ricklefs) Irlmeier. He was baptized, received his First Holy Communion, and was confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning. Kenny grew up in Manning and graduated from Manning Community School with the Class of 2000. An avid sports enthusiast, he played football throughout high school and college before discovering his passion for rugby.
On July 21, 2007, Kenny was united in marriage to the love of his life, Karmalita “Kami” Hinojosa, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning. They were blessed with three children, Furious, Ransom, and Rogue. As an Army family, they had the opportunity to live in different places and travel the world together. During their time in Hawaii, they were members of Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church in Waipahu and, most recently, St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lansing, Kansas.
Kenny took great pride in his technical skills and put them to use in various positions throughout the family's travels. His career included working for the Manhattan Airport Maintenance Department, CPS Energy in San Antonio, Texas, Jimmy’s AC in Oahu, Hawaii, and the Leavenworth Streets Department and Parks and Recreation Department.
Kenny had a lifelong love of sports, especially rugby. He had been a member of the Albatross Rugby Club since 2004 and spent two years playing for the Stuttgart Rugby Club in Germany. He enjoyed sharing his passion for sports with his children, coaching all three in soccer, baseball, and rugby over the years. Above all, Kenny treasured time spent with his family, whether they were adventuring around the world, enjoying a new experience, or simply spending time together. He even became a Kansas City Chiefs bandwagon fan to join in his family's enthusiasm for the team. More recently, he took up golfing with his children, creating another opportunity to share time and make memories together.
Kenny passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in Harker Heights, Texas, at the age of 44 years, ten months and 24 days. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and best friends: William Barnette and Justeen Schwieso.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Kami and their children: Furious, Ransom and Rogue all of Harker Heights, Texas; parents, Ronald and Donna Irlmeier of Manning; siblings: Jason Irlmeier of Manning, Allen (Janet) Irlmeier of Ankeny, Marie Irlmeier of Carroll, Julie Valentine of Manning and Laura Ackerson of Manning; parents-in-law: Rodrigo (Kathy) Hinojosa of Battle Creek and Jonna Wade of Barnett, MO; siblings-in-law: Cecilia (Erik) Smith of Granger and Alyssa (Zach) Groepper of Rembrandt; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other family members and friends.
Dates remain pending, but a Visitation with family and friends will be held at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning. Interment will be held at Mt. Cavalry Cemetery in Lansing, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund on behalf of his children is being established at First National Bank of Manning.
