Kristin Dreyer

Kristin Kae, daughter of Earl and Lea (Avery) Schock, was born January 28, 1975, in New Sharon, Iowa. She grew up in New Sharon and graduated from North Mahaska High School in 1993. She attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a degree in elementary education in 1997.

On June 24, 2000, Kristin was united in marriage with Jay Dreyer at New Sharon Methodist Church in New Sharon. Two children were born to this couple. They made their home in Manning. Kristin has worked at the Manning/IKM-Manning Schools as a teacher in a variety of grades since 1998.

Kristin was a member of the United Methodist Church in Manning. Teaching was Kristin’s passion along with her boys. She cherished watching them do a variety of activities in school. Kristin enjoyed reading, gardening, walking, running, cross country skiing, spending time with her family, and serving her community and church. She was very much loved and respected by the students at the middle school.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Kristin died at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, after having surgery to remove a large tumor in her brain. She was 50 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Elmer and Esther Schock and Rex and Lorraine Avery.

Kristin is survived by her husband, Jay Dreyer of Manning, IA and their children, Quentin Dreyer of Omaha, NE and Eli Dreyer of Ames, IA; parents, Earl and Lea Schock of New Sharon, IA; brother, Aaron (Courtney) Schock of New Sharon, IA, and their children, Alivia, Nolan, Emma, Avery, and Ella; brother-in-law, Lee (Megan) Dreyer of Lincoln, NE, and their children, Miles and Max; many other relatives and friends.

In honor of her love and dedication of teaching, a scholarship has been established at IKM-Manning School.

Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the new IKM-Manning Middle School Gym. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., also in the new gym. Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Pine Knoll Cemetery in Hay Springs, NE.
