Leona Seidl

Leona Teresa, daughter of George and Teresa (Brincks) Berger, was born August 8, 1920 at home on a farm near Willey, Iowa. She attended St. Mary's School where she was a choir member. After Leona finished her schooling she worked for other families in their homes. On September 12, 1944 Leona was united in marriage with Rubert Seidl at St. Mary's Church in Willey by Father Dries. Three boys were born to this union. They lived on a farm southwest of Dedham until 1961 when they moved to a farm near Coon Rapids. Leona was primarily a homemaker. However, she did work part-time at the Garst & Thomas seed corn plant in Coon Rapids. In 1977 Leona and Rubert retired and moved into Coon Rapids where they built their own home. Leona was a member of Annunciation Parish and the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed spending her free time gardening, canning, and sewing. She was also a talented organist. When Leona was unable to live at home she moved to Thomas Rest Haven in 2006. She died there Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 11 days. Leona is preceded in death by her parents; husband Rubert Seidl; brothers Joe (Viola) Berger, Al Berger, Ray Berger; sisters Marie (Bill) Riesberg, Lucille Berger; and brother in law Elmer Bluml. She is survived by her three sons Dave (Faye) Seidl of Coon Rapids, Dan (Diane) Seidl of Coon Rapids and Dale (Suzy) Seidl of Coon Rapids; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother Edmund (LaVonne) Berger of Lidderdale; sisters Bernice Bluml of Carroll, Frances (Albert) Meiners of Coon Rapids; sisters in law Dorothy Berger of Lohrville and Virginia Berger of Carroll; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
