Lucille Buelt

December 27, 1927 — April 18, 2016

Lucille Catherine Buelt, daughter of Henry and Ann (Schwabe) Beckman was born December 27, 1927 at home in Westside, Iowa.  She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1945 as the class valedictorian.

After high school, Lucille worked at the Arcadia bank for a few years.  On September 14, 1948 she was united in marriage with Herbert Buelt at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia.  From this union six children were born.

Lucille and Herbert lived on their farm north of Halbur where she was a homemaker.  She also helped around the farm milking cows and feeding chickens.

She was known for her hospitality and generosity towards others.  Lucille was a great listener and an excellent cook and baker.  She enjoyed playing cards and dominos; beyond all these things, her pride and joy were her grandchildren.   She was a member of St. Augustine Church and lady’s guild and was an original member of the Board of Deans Halbur U Scholarship Fund.

In 2008 Lucille became a resident at Swan House in Carroll.  She then moved into St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll in 2014.  Lucille died there on April 18, 2016 at the age of 88 years.

Preceding her in death are her husband Herbert in 1999; parents Henry and Ann; sister Eunice Starman and many brothers in law and sisters in laws.
