February 17, 1916 — September 2, 2016

Lucille Elizabeth Pingrey, daughter of George and Lenora (Clifford) Textor, was born February 17, 1916 in Coon Rapids, IA and died September 2, 2016 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA at the age of 100 years, 6 months, and 16 days.

Lucille graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1934. She then completed Normal Training and taught at country school for a couple of years.  On June 6, 1937 Lucille was united in marriage to Wilson Pingrey in her parent’s backyard.  From this union, two children were born, Linda and Mark.

For several years she worked for Garst & Thomas Seed Company in the office doing secretarial work and retired in 1975. She then volunteered at New Hope and delivered congregate meals to the community. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Apple Dumpling Gang, Eastern Star, and SNE Sewing Club. Lucille was crowned Sesquicentennial Queen in 2013.

Lucille enjoyed golfing and antiquing with Wilson, gardening, sewing, needlepoint and crocheting.  She was known for her witty brain and one-liners.  In her later years, she loved traveling.  She was very proud of herself at age 99 when she renewed her driver's license. In July 2015, Lucille became a resident of Park View Assisted Living in Coon Rapids, IA.
