Margaret Gach

Margaret Louise Gach, daughter of Peter F. and Mary Katherine (Sullivan) Karl, was born January 14, 1918, in Easton, Missouri. She grew up in Easton and graduated from Easton High School in 1935. After graduating, Margaret worked as a caretaker for the elderly in St. Joseph. Margaret later moved to Chicago to work for Western Electric. On July, 2, 1949, Margaret was united in marriage with Francis "Frank" A. Gach in Chicago. Four children were born into this union, and they made their home in Chicago until they moved to Carroll in 1955. Margaret worked as a seamstress and a homemaker, where she also cared for her father until his death in 1973. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Spirit Women's Guild and funeral choir, Legion of Mary, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Pray with the Heart Group, Renew Group, and Project Mercy. Margaret enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her cats, sewing, traveling, going to Mass, praying the rosary and volunteering at the New Hope Village Store and as a 4-H leader. On September 20, 2011, Margaret passed away at her home in Carroll, surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years, 8 months, and 6 days of age. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1994; sisters: Agnes and husband John Vacco; Rose and husband William Miller, and Eileen and husband Larry Weber; brothers: Thomas Karl and wife Vera; Eugene Karl, Joseph Karl, and an infant brother. She is survived by her children: Thomas A. Gach of Carroll; Mary Victoria Gach of Carroll; Juliana M. and husband Thomas Woodruff of Red Wing, Minnesota, and Gerard J. Gach and wife Martha of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Loretta Nold, Juanita Gach, and Geraldine Gach all of Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
