Marjorie Davis

November 13, 1923 — February 3, 2017

Marjorie Lydia, daughter of Max and Kathryn (Romey) Pentzenhauser, was born November 13, 1923 in Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Templeton and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through the 12th grade. She then attended business school in Omaha, NE.

On February 22, 1944 Marjorie was united in marriage with Earl “Blackie” R. Davis at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton where she had been baptized and confirmed. They were the parents of three daughters. Marjorie was a homemaker and also worked at Elmer Carlson Seed Company in Audubon when her children were older. Later she began working at Olson, Muhlbauer and Mahoney in Carroll where she and Earl moved. After her retirement, she continued to live in Carroll and was a member of Holy Spirit and then St. Lawrence Parishes.

Marjorie was always busy. She quilted and did other needlework. She had a ‘green thumb’ and raised beautiful flowers, especially roses. Marjorie was recognized state-wide for all her volunteer work.

Marjorie’s husband died in 1975 and she continued to live in their home in Carroll. When Marjorie’s health began to fail in 2011, she became a resident of Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City where she was lovingly cared for. She died there on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 21 days.

Preceding Marjorie in death are her parents; husband; daughter Suzanne Dozler and great grandson Jackson Kemper.

She is survived by two daughters Janice Wilkins of Ottawa, KS and Monica (Paul) Christensen of Manning; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister Jeanette Romey of Regency Park in Carroll; other relatives and friends.
