Mary Ann Irlmeier

December 12, 1934 — February 19, 2014

Mary Ann Etta, daughter of Alphonse and Margaret (Underberg) Irlbeck, was born December 12, 1934 near Templeton, Iowa. She was baptized, made her First Communion and was confirmed at St. Joseph's Church in Dedham and attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton. Growing up with nine brothers, Mary Ann developed into a very independent and strong-willed woman.
Mary Ann was united in marriage with Frank "Boots" Irlmeier on November 23, 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. They farmed north of Templeton, raising livestock and row crops. In addition to being a dedicated farm wife and mother, Mary Ann enjoyed decorating homes for family and friends, gardening and crafts. When her children were grown, she worked at Muellers in Manning and Fine Things in Carroll, as well as volunteering at New Hope thrift stores. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton, including the Ladies Guild and Catholic Daughters (50+ years), and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mary Ann enjoyed bingo, casino slot machines, and trips to Branson, MO with her girlfriends. In 1984 she and her husband built a new home on the west edge of Templeton.
When Frank died in 1994, Mary Ann continued to reside in their home. Due to the progression of Alzheimer's symptoms, Mary Ann became a resident of Sunnybrook Assisted Living and later St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. She died there on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 7 days.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank "Boots" Irlmeier; son Mark Irlmeier in 1998; infant son Kenneth; son-in-law Danny Meiners in 1999; infant sister Mary Helen; and special friend Glenn Bruun.
