Mary Lou Stangl

June 26, 1929 — March 3, 2013

Mary Louise, daughter of Clement and Mayme (Niehaus Scherbring) Stangl, was born June 26, 1929 in Arcadia, Iowa. When Mary Lou was five years old she moved with her family to Dedham. She attended school in Dedham and in Coon Rapids. After finishing her schooling she remained at home in Coon Rapids and helped her family. She also assisted others in the community by babysitting for nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her family was very important to her. After the death of her parents, Mary Lou lived on her own in Coon Rapids. During that time she continued to babysit for other families. In her free time she enjoyed embroidering and painting. Mary Lou was a member of the Annunciation Parish in Coon Rapids and the Ladies Guild. She was always helpful with Guild bake sales, rummage sales and banquets. In October of 2002 Mary Lou was injured in a fall in her home. She then entered the Manning Plaza which became her home. Mary Lou had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed visiting with staff, residents and any visitors. While living at the Plaza, she participated in all activities, but especially liked bingo, as she recalled playing that at church over the years. Mary Lou sustained a heart attack on Friday, March 1 and died at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 5 days.
