Mildred J. Bancroft

Mildred Joyce, daughter of Benjamin and Iris (Spencer) Chase, was born May 11, 1933, at Coon Rapids, Iowa. Mildred attended school in Coon Rapids. On June 10, 1950, Mildred was united in marriage with Richard Henry Bancroft Sr. in Guthrie Center. Two sons were born to this union. The family first lived near Jefferson and then moved to Coon Rapids. Mildred enjoyed music, reading, gardening, and recipe collecting. She was baptized in 1980 at Friend's Church by Pastor Eugene Correll. Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. In 2005, Richard and Mildred became residents of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She was in a wheelchair/walker since 2003 due to an accident in 1956. Mildred died on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. She was 78 years of age. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Richard in 2006; brothers Larry and Gary Chase; one sister in infancy; half-sisters Betty Kumba, Betty Willard, Sadie Brown, and Clara Chase; brothers-in-law Owen Turk and Leroy Obermeier. She is survived by her two sons; Richard Henry Bancroft Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Audubon and David Ray Bancroft and wife Diane of Raytown, MO; five grandchildren: Lisa Bancroft, Tawnia Bancroft, George Bancroft, Alan Bancroft and Janelle Johnson (Luke); great granddaughter Ginny Bancroft; brothers Ben Chase and wife Alice of South Carolina and Charles Chase and wife Saranne of Illinois; sisters: Maxine and husband Bob Jandt of Tustin, CA; Rose and husband Alan White of McLean, TX; Mary Jane and husband Charles Hance of Creston; Sandra Turk of Gardner, KS; and Jean Obermeier of Audubon; half-brother John Chase of Parshall, ND; half-sister Ada Bell Carman of Jefferson; other relatives and friends.
