September 26, 1930 — March 6, 2012

Milton Emil, son of Emil and Amanda (Moeller) Sinow, was born September 26, 1930 in Crawford County, Iowa. He grew up on a farm one mile south of Aspinwall in Crawford County and attended rural school through the eighth grade. After completing his education he worked on the family farm until he entered the United States Army in 1953 at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He served two years during the Korean Conflict and then received his honorable discharge at Ft. Louis, Washington in 1955. Milton returned to Iowa and on April 3, 1959 was united in marriage with Betty L. Ehrichs Henkelman. They moved into Aspinwall where Milton started a trucking business. In 1977 they moved into their home where they lived most of their lives. After 22 years trucking, they bought a tavern and café in 1980 that they operated for nine years. During their retirement, they farmed on a part time basis. Milton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and American Legion and served on the Aspinwall City Council. He and Betty enjoyed watching movies and going to the Iowa State Fair. When their health began to fail they became residents of the Manning Plaza on October 4, 2007. While at the Plaza, Milton and Betty enjoyed watching television and celebrating residents' birthdays. Milton died at the Manning Plaza on March 6, 2012 at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 9 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Melvin Sinow. Milton is survived by his wife Betty Sinow of the Manning Plaza; children Terry Henkelman of Olathe, Kansas; Cindy and husband Rex Wagener of Storm Lake and Tim Henkelman of Aspinwall; 6 grandchildren; one great grandchild; other relatives and friends.
