Nancy Halbur

August 27, 1936 — April 30, 2015

Nancy Kay (Yoss) Halbur, daughter of Harry and Hazel (Wilkens) Yoss, was born on August 27, 1936 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. She spent her childhood in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School. Nancy was united in marriage with Vernice (Windy) Halbur September 11, 1954 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. To this union five children were born: Glen, Paula, Mark, Gary, and Vicki. She volunteered with the Carroll Welcome Wagon, co-operated a consignment shop called The White Elephant, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed British comedies, shopping, traveling and all family gatherings, especially Christmas. Nancy passed away April 30, 2015 at her home in Carroll surrounded by her family following a short illness. Preceding her in death are her parents Harry Yoss (1945) and Hazel Yoss (1980); grandson Steven Olerich (1974); son Glen Halbur (2015); brothers: Wayne Yoss (1965) and Ivan Yoss (1982); grandparents: Helena Klocke and Paul Hansen, Thedore Yoss and Carrie Henning; and sister-in law Luella Yoss (1996). She is survived by husband Vernice "Windy" Halbur; children: Paula (Todd) Smith of Boone, Mark Halbur of Le Mars, Gary (Becky) Halbur of Omaha, NE and Vicki Halbur of Omaha, NE; grandchildren Traci (Marcell) Daniels of Milkwaukee, WI, Nikki (Ben) Larrew of Boone, Michael (Mandy) Halbur of Dubuque , Holly (Brian) Shaefer of Carroll, Ashley (Ryan) Nelson of Boone, Matthew (James) Olson of Altoona, and Amanda (Adam Wempe) Halbur of Carroll; great-grandchildren Rachel Halbur, Kenedy Schaefer, Taylor Roberts, Ronnie Halbur, Caden Larrew, Shelby Schaefer, Destiny Schaefer, Marcell Daniels Jr., Madison Daniels, Madalyn Larrew, Jaxon Halbur, Carter Nelson, Jase Wempe, and Bella Halbur; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Private Family Service will be held at Ohde Twit Funeral Home and Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
