Norman K., son of Vivian and Gladys (Ditto) Cretsinger, was born July 9, 1943, in Guthrie County, Iowa. Through the sixth grade, Norman attended rural school near his home. He then attended Coon Rapids Schools.

In 1960, Norman was united in marriage with Janet Smouse in Coon Rapids. A daughter Deb was born to this union. The couple made their home in Coon Rapids. Norman worked as a production manager for the seed corn company. He retired in 2008.

Throughout the years, Norman was a member of First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids, Lion’s Club and the Jaycees. Norman and Jan were bowlers and were members of a league for several years. He enjoyed fixing old cars and collecting a variety of items. During the summers, his family enjoyed traveling where his work took him, usually into Kansas and Missouri. He cherished the time spent with his family, especially taking his grandchildren on cruises.

In 2006, Norman was diagnosed with heart problems and then Parkinson’s disease. In February of 2019, he became a resident of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, where he passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020. He was 77 years, 2 months and 5 days of age.

Norman is survived by his wife Jan Cretsinger of Coon Rapids; a daughter Deb Becker and husband Brad of Emmetsburg; two grandchildren Jennifer Landsberger and husband George of Kingsland, Georgia, and Josh Becker and wife Heidi of Firestone, Colorado; a great-granddaughter Molly; an aunt Wilma Bowman of Audubon; a brother-in-law Lyle Paulsen of Coon Rapids; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
