Otis Dudley

November 18, 1934 — April 8, 2019

     Otis Lee, son of Raymond and Cleo (Sample) Dudley, was born November 18, 1934 near Ottumwa, in Wapello County, Iowa. He grew up near Ottumwa and attended country school.


     On October 16, 1953 Otis was united in marriage with Hazel Parrott in Kahoka, Missouri. Otis was a lifelong mechanic, mostly working on large trucks. He and Hazel made their home in Des Moines, Glidden, Carroll, and Phoenix, Arizona. Otis worked for many years at Crouse Cartage Company in Carroll.  In 1985 the couple moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked at Otto Trucking Company.  He retired from there in 1996 and they moved to Bayard, Iowa.


     Otis was a member of the Bayard Church of Christ. He enjoyed camping, fishing, neighboring, and watching auto racing and wrestling. Otis was the rock of his family and cherished the time spent with his kids and grandkids.


     On Monday, April 8, 2019, Otis passed away at his home in Bayard, Iowa, after being diagnosed with cancer only a few short weeks before. He was 84 years, 4 months and 21days of age.


     Otis was preceded in death by a daughter Connie Goode; two sons: Gary Wiseman and Bert Dudley; two grandsons: Joseph Hoffman and Daniel Dammer; three great-grandchildren: James McDonald, Tiara Goode and Drake Lund; a brother James?Jim Dudley and a sister Rozella Ewers.


     Otis is survived by his wife Hazel Dudley of Bayard; four children: Jeannie (Jerry) Brincks of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Janet Dudley of Bayard; Debbie Graves of Bayard; and Paul (Liz) Dudley of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; daughter in law Tari Dudley of Madison, South Dakota; 31 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jack Dudley of California; Bill Dyke of Des Moines; a sister Janice McGee of Arizona; a sister-in-law Carolyn Potter of Bloomfield; a special cousin, Charles Lineback, who Otis held as close as brother; and by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
