Patrick O'Donnell

    Patrick Richard, son of Richard J. and Rose (Smith) O’Donnell was born August 29, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa.  He graduated from Heelan High School in 1954.  After graduation, he worked as a flower delivery man for Harrison Company. Pat then enlisted into the United States Air Force and served as a cook at the air base in Sioux City.  He was honorably discharged in 1962. 

    On April 18, 1959 Patrick was united in marriage with Carole (Kroblen) O’Donnell at Immaculate Conception Church in Sioux City.  From this union three children were born-Erin, Todd and Shawn. 

    Pat worked for REA Express for 10 years until they closed. Carole and Pat then moved to Carroll where he drove the bread truck for Metz Baking Company. 

    He was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Carroll.  Pat was a hunting and fishing enthusiast; he enjoyed yard work, playing cards with his friends and being with his grandchildren.

    Pat moved into Shady Oaks Nursing Home memorial care unit in May 2016.  On November 6, 2016, he passed away from complications associated with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 8 days.

    Preceding him in death are his parents Richard and Rose O’Donnell and brother-in-law James Lynch.

    Left to cherish Pat’s memory is his wife Carole O’Donnell of Carroll; children Erin (Mike) Wolf of Glidden, Todd (Carol) O’Donnell of Marion and Shawn (Kim) O’Donnell of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren Aaron (Elizabeth) Wolf of Rolland, Oklahoma, Adam (Gina) Wolf of Early, Kristin (Tim) Allen of Des Moines, Kelli O’Donnell of Denver, Colorado and Patrick O’Donnell of Pleasant Hill; great grandchildren Lilly Wolf and Mason Wolf of Early; sisters Rosemary Lynch of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Ann (Doug) Youngdahl of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
