Richard "Dick" Smits

Richard "Dick" Carroll Smits, 82, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born February 7, 1932 to Herman and Harriet Smits in Walcott, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ted Smits and Herman Smits, Jr.; and one grandson, Joshua Smits. Dick is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Ruby Smits; seven children: Alan (Wendi) Smits of Jefferson, Iowa, Gary (Lena) Smits of Garfield, Arkansas, Paul (Peggy) Smits of Jefferson, Iowa, Pam (Troy) Melton of Omaha, Nebraska, Carla (Larry) Voss of Greenfield, Iowa, Jill (Sam) Massey of Judsonia, Arkansas, and John (Angie) Smits of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bill (Judy) Smits of Osage, Missouri and Jack Smits of Colorado; numerous other relatives and friends.
