Robert Herrmann

Robert James "Doc", son of J. Bernard and Mary (O'Hern) Herrmann, was born May 26, 1949 in Fort Dodge and grew up in Manson, Iowa. He graduated from Manson High School. Bob then graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1972. Later that year on December 23, 1972 Robert was united in marriage with Rose Nelson. Two children were born to this union. They lived in Fort Dodge a few years before Robert attended and graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City. After completing his training as a chiropractor, they moved to Independence, KS, where he set up his practice. After suffering a stroke, Doc continued to practice for a short time before the family moved to Carroll. He then earned his teaching certificate and was a substitute teacher in the Carroll area. In his spare time, Doc enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and spending time with his family Doc was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2011. After undergoing chemo and radiation he seemed to be doing well. However, he was stricken with pneumonia and died on Sunday morning, July 29, 2012 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. He was 63 years, 2 months and 3 days of age. Preceding him in death are his parents. Doc is survived by his wife Rose Herrmann of Carroll; two children Renee Hermann of Carroll and Robert Hermann of Carroll; two grandchildren Quinn Ledford and Eliza Herrmann; siblings Mary Ellen (Mike) Condon of Brighton, CO; JoAnn Herrmann and Gary Repplinger of Des Moines; John (Patricia) Herrmann of Fonda; and Richard (Sandy) Herrmann of Manson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
