Roger Lee Joens was born on October 20, 1938, in Manning, to Bernhardt Detlef Joens and Mildred Edith (Compton) Joens. He passed away on January 31, 2026, at a nursing home in Ardmore, Tennessee, where he had been recovering from a fall. He was 87 years old.
Roger was united in marriage to Annette “Ann” Lee (Ehlers) Joens, and they shared 60 years together before her passing on August 17, 2022.
Throughout his life, Roger enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, and touring the area on his motorcycle with Ann. He worked as a Claims Manager for an insurance company until his retirement in 1998, after which he moved to Alabama to be closer to his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Joens Clothier, and her husband, Melvin Clothier.
Roger is survived by daughter, Kimberly (Diane) Stewart-Joens, of Monroe, Georgia; son, Russell (Casie) Joens, of Madison, Alabama; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Patrick) Mott, of Madison, Alabama; grandson, Matthew Joens, of Madison, Alabama; brothers-in-law, Allen (Becky) Ehlers, Charles (Nadine) Ehlers, and Robert (Brenda) Ehlers, all of Manning; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services were held in the Manning City Cemetery in Manning.
