Ron J. Soll

Ronald “Ron” James Soll, son of James and Charlotte (Joens) Soll, was born on July 27, 1967, in Manning, Iowa. He spent his childhood in Manning, Avoca, Greenfield, and Audubon before eventually returning to Manning. Ron graduated from Audubon High School with the Class of 1985 and later attended Universal Technical Institute before returning home to begin his career.

On July 25, 1987, Ron was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Sue Nissen, at Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Jessica Sue and Jenna Nicole.

Ron was the co-owner of Soll’s Service, Inc., where he worked alongside his father, Jim, and grandfather, Roy, who were co-owners of the business when he joined. In 1993, the business relocated from Aspinwall to Main Street in Manning. Over the years, Soll’s Service specialized in heating, cooling, and plumbing and, for a time, also sold appliances. Ron took great pride in helping build the family business with his father and genuinely enjoyed his work.

A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ron embraced life’s many adventures. He loved his Camaro, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, turkey hunting with Sue, attending NASCAR races, especially to watch his favorite drivers, Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and spending time at Lake Okoboji. Ron was known as the family’s “Mr. Fix-It” and was always the first person his daughters called whenever something needed to be repaired or they needed help figuring something out. He was always happy to walk his girls through any project or problem and took great pride in lending a helping hand. Above all, Ron treasured time with his grandchildren and loved sharing his passion for boating with them.

After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Ron died on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 58 years, 10 months, and 22 days old. Ron was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roy and Ruth Soll; maternal grandparents, Donald and Lori Joens; uncle, Allen Soll; cousin, Adam Soll; father-in-law, Darwin Nissen; niece, Randi Munch; and other extended family members.

Left to cherish Ron’s memory are his wife, Sue Soll of Manning; his daughters, Jessica (Trevor) Paska of Carroll and their daughters, Olivia and Jaide, and Jenna Soll (Justin Brown) of Carroll; his parents, Jim and Charlotte Soll of Audubon; his sister, Barbi (Dave) Elmquist of Audubon and their children, Alex and Abby; his mother-in-law, Connie Nissen of Exira; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law and their families; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family greeting friends will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Manning Hausbarn Konferenze Centre. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.
