Ronald Frahm

Apr 11, 1937 — Jun 20, 2026

Ronald “Ronny” Herbert Frahm, son of Herbert and Verna (Rowedder) Frahm, was born on April 11, 1937, at Manning General Hospital in Carroll County, Iowa. He was raised on the family’s Century Farm near Manning and attended Manning schools, graduating from Manning High School with the Class of 1955.

On February 8, 1959, Ronny was united in marriage with Lois Vennink at the First Presbyterian Church in Manning. The couple initially made their home in town before moving to the Frahm Century Farm in 1960, where they farmed together and raised cattle. They remained on the farm until 2014, when they returned to Manning, but Ronny continued farming until his retirement in 2017.

A dedicated community servant, Ronny was a founder and director of the West Central Iowa Rural Water Association, serving on its board from its inception in 1970 until 2021 and holding the position of president for a period of time. He was a longtime member of the Manuel Masonic Lodge, having joined in 1958, and was also active with the Abu Bekr Shrine and the West Central Iowa Shrine Animal Unit. His faith was important to him, and he was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Manning, where he served on numerous committees over the years.

Ronny enjoyed staying busy and spending time with others. He had been a member of the Poker Club since 1962 and also enjoyed fishing, bird-watching, traveling, sightseeing, and taking vacations. He especially loved driving around in his van, watching softball games, and attending local sporting events.

Following Lois’s death in 2020, Ronny continued living in their home in Manning. He passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center at the age of 89 years, two months, and nine days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Verna Frahm; his beloved wife, Lois Frahm; an infant sister, Sharon Joan Frahm; brothers-in-law Wayne, Marlin, Marvin, and Allen Vennink; and sister-in-law Mildred Spies.

Left to cherish his memory are his in-laws: Pat Vennink of Manning; Annabelle (Errol) Wegner of Manning; Marilyn (Keith) Pfannkuch of Manning; and Russ Spies of Manning; his close family friend, Aaron Stangl of Manning; along with other relatives and friends.
