Ronald Long

Ronald James Long was born on October 19, 1962, in Manning, Iowa, the son of Edmund Leo and Marian C. (Hoffman) Long. He was baptized and later confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning. He attended Manning Elementary and graduated from Manning High School in 1981. He went on to Des Moines Area Community College, where he earned a degree in business management.

Ron married Sheryl Warner, and they were blessed with one son, Brandon. The couple later parted ways. He worked for West Central Rural Water near Lake View, Tractor Supply, Hog Slat in Carroll, and held various other jobs in the area.

He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and took great care in tending to his two horses.

Ron passed away at his home near Breda, Iowa, on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 25 days. Ron was preceded in death by his father.

Ron is survived by his son, Brandon Long of Manning; mother, Marian Long of Carroll; siblings: Doug (Diana) Long of Cedar Rapids, Curt (Margaret) Long of Ankeny, Sue (Lynn) Venteicher of Pella, Tom Long of Arizona; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
