Rosemary Kohorst

August 19, 1922 — April 4, 2015

Rosemary Frances Kohorst, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Barta) Pachta, was born August 19, 1922, in Boyer, Iowa. She received her 8th grade diploma at Stockholm school in Boyer. She met the love of her life, Henry Kohorst, at a dance. On February 5, 1940, Rosemary and Henry were united in marriage at St. John's Catholic Church in Arcadia, Iowa. Rosemary and Henry had a farm north of Arcadia where she worked as a farm wife and raised three children. Henry unexpectedly passed in 1976 and Rosemary moved to Carroll in 1979. Rosemary cleaned and cooked at the St. Lawrence rectory starting in 1979. She also enjoyed cleaning for several other local businesses. Rosemary loved making crafts, painting, woodworking, dancing, playing cards, and cooking and baking for her family and friends. Rosemary lived in her home in Carroll until January 2015, when her health started to decline. She was hospitalized and then she recuperated at the Carroll Health Center where she passed on Saturday, April 4, 2015. Rosemary is survived by two children Joleen Cornelius (Drew Yaggy) of Carrollton, TX and Randy (Micki) Kohorst of Arcadia, IA; grandchildren Mark (Jayne) Kohorst, Jennifer Kohorst, Chris (Joanne) Vorsten, Kelly (Jim) Nagy, Bridget Dunn, Kristine (Matt) Iverson, Chad (Alecia) Kohorst, Jason Kohorst; twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; Henry, her husband; a brother William Pachta; two sisters Lillian Aldag and Dorothy Dreessen; a son Roger (Deanna) Kohorst; and two grandsons Keith Kohorst and Philip Kohorst.
