      Shirley Marie, daughter of Julius and Nellie (Mohr) Ohrt, was born July 10, 1932, in Manning, Iowa. She grew up in Manning and graduated from Manning High School in 1950.


   On September 9, 1962, Shirley was united in marriage with Virgil Louis Reid at the First Presbyterian Church in Manning. Two sons were born to this union. Shirley worked as a secretary in several business in Manning, including the Ranniger Law Office.


   Shirley was renowned for her baking skills and had perfected her grandchildren’s favorite angel food cake. She also enjoyed puzzles, a little gambling, occasional shopping, and most of all she loved time with her grandchildren.


   On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, Shirley passed away suddenly at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa. She was 86 years, 4 months and 10 days of age.


   Preceding Shirley in death are her husband Virgil, her parents, a sister Marian Petersen, and a grandson Jackson Reid.


   Shirley is survived by two sons Brian Reid and wife Lisa of Carroll, and Barry Reid and wife Lori of Atlantic; grandchildren Maddison, Kennedy and Reagan Reid, and Jesse and Jadyn Reid; a niece Connie Petersen; and other relatives and close friends.
